|Unleashing God's Truth, One Verse at a Time
For our next series, we’d like to piggy-back on John’s YRR posts to address an assumption that comes up often in discussions about the gospel, evangelism, and church planting. The assumption comes across in statements like this: “You’ve got to engage the culture to reach the culture. If you hope to reach your culture for the gospel, you’ve got to become all things to all people.” The oft-repeated refrain comes from 1 Corinthians 9:22: “I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some.”
So, for the next couple of weeks, we’ve spooled up a series of posts from John MacArthur’s book, Ashamed of the Gospel. It’s a detailed treatment of 1 Corinthians 9:19-23 that should set the record straight about what Paul really meant by “I have become all things to all people.”
Since all of us will be tied up with the Truth Matters conference, we’ll have the comments turned off for this series to allow us time to focus on other responsibilities. You can click here to join us on the live stream, or you can wait until we post the messages sometime after the conference.
In the meantime, have a listen to this excellent message by Thabiti Anyabwile at last year’s T4G; it’s a thoughtful, passionate, and timely warning about engaging the culture.
