John MacArthur on the Middle East and the Future of Israel

Thursday, October 11, 2012 | Comments (7)

We’ve gotten used to stories of violence, turmoil, and political upheaval in the Middle East as a regular feature of our daily news. The truth is, conflict has always been a factor in that part of the world.

At Grace to You, we often receive questions about the situation in the Middle East, the rise of Islam, and the future of Israel. When John MacArthur was recently in studio, we asked him to help us make sense of Israel’s present situation, and what Scripture says about its future.

You can hear more of John’s teaching on God’s prophecies and promises for Israel in his message “The Salvation of Israel” and his sermon series The Future of Israel.

Thank you grace to you and to John also for this ministry has mentored me and I have seen the salvation of my entire family and we have grown in the grace and knowledge of the Lord. My son has been called to preach and has been ordained in the ministry which is a joy to me. Keep telling the whole truth and I look forward to meeting you in glory for I pray for you often.

Praise God for His accurate Word. Thanks, John, for your boldness to proclaim His message, even when it gets tough.

Thank you Dr. MacArthur for your insight. I was reading earlier today how just this week alone, 55 rockets have been fired at Israel. I was wondering exactly what can be expected as we go forward. Thank you for providing Biblical guidance at this time. May the Father continue to bless you and your ministry.

Thanks Pastor John for stating that Israel's mistreatment is a result of divine judgment for their rejection of Christ as well as a part of His future plan to bring salvation to them. From a human standpoint it is at times difficult to discern if they they are stubbornly provoking their enemies or defending themselves. I have been guilty of calling the Israel we know today as the "Unholy Land." Your teaching regarding Israel brings me to my senses and to repentance. I praise the Lord daily for His mercy in raising up a shepherd like you and for providing the means to minister to so many of His flock throughout this vast world. May the Lord continue to bless the ministry of GTY for our good and His glory.

Powerful stuff, a bit scary, and amazing to watch events happening in front of us that are explained in the Bible. It is a shame the world has to go this way, but that is our sinful nature. I too am so grateful for God's mercy knowing that we can be saved now is huge. I am curious where our nation, the U.S., fits in the final world coalition. I do agree that today many are trying to distance themselves from Israel, but many are not. Is the U.S. part of the western-European force that is to rise up against Israel in the final days?

Tough truth for those who do not believe the Bible. Israel exists because of God's sovereign will. I have not come across any other nation in world history that has been almost 2k years in exile and suffering such calamities and massive deaths throughout like the people of Israel.

Steve asks on Post #6 about what will the US role be in the raising up against Israel. I believe in my heart that the doom of the US is getting closer than ever as one sees God's divine judgement takes place in Scripture. We are too far deep in perdition and the US is going to get is asking "the complete abandonment from God" full of immoral liberties. I do not think the US will exist when the raising up against Israel takes place, I see the union dissolving as the US central government becomes more tyrant, and states begin declaring their independence from it, and chaos takes over. But it does not matter to God's saints, He will care for us. As for Israel, that is God's internal affair and John MacArthur is 100% spot on.

Do not believe for a second that the world's raising up against Israel is not under God's control, or for that matter what is happening today as well, that is going to happen so God be manifested throughout the world that He is God, and Israel His people. I cannot wait to see God reconciling Israel to Himself, because of His will and power and majesty. Awesome!

Good subject and very timely, Thanks GTY.

Thank you for the timely info. My husband and I are studying the background of Israel , how they forsaked God, but He has not given up on them because of His promises to them. To see things unfolding today is reassuring of the promises God has made to us through His son Jesus Christ!
