Welcome to the new online home of Grace to You. If this isn’t your first visit, you can already see that we did more than just rearrange the furniture. We started from scratch and built a new website from the ground up. And today we want to familiarize you with the new site and mention some features you might not otherwise notice.
A Mobile-Friendly Website
Too many websites are not designed to serve and accommodate mobile devices. Even though more than half of our visitors access our website from a mobile device, we were one of those websites. But we’re excited that our site now appears and functions in beautiful harmony with your particular device and screen size.
Better Content Organization
When you’re used to navigating a website, even improvements can be frustrating when you can’t find what you’re looking for. That said, our top navigation bar has changed, but we trust it will be easier for you to find what you’re looking for.
Under Broadcasts you’ll find our radio and television broadcasts, including our shorter radio features.
Under Resources you’ll find all of John’s teaching that is available to you free of charge in video, audio, and print.
Under Store you’ll find our resources that are available for purchase—Bibles, books, commentaries, CDs, and more.
Next to those four categories we’ve put some quick links to our most popular content.
A Rich Media Experience
Our old, Flash-based audio player that only worked on some devices is, thankfully, long gone. We now have a custom-built media player that allows you to listen to sermons as you navigate around the website—and it works on every device. Click the “Listen Now” button at the top to test it by listening to today’s broadcast of “Grace to You”!
Also new is the Playlist feature. When listening to a sermon, you can add other sermons to your playlist so that they’ll play as soon as the current message is finished.
With thousands of resources available on our website, sometimes it can be daunting to know where to start. Often people visit our website with a particular topic or passage they want to study. But for those unfamiliar with John’s ministry, or for those times when you don’t want to have to choose a specific sermon to listen to, we created Grace Stream.
Grace Stream is a continuous broadcast of John MacArthur’s verse-by-verse teaching through the New Testament. Tune in whenever you want, and listen for as long as you want. Grace Stream will cycle through the New Testament about every two months. No matter where you jump in, you’ll hear clear and encouraging biblical teaching.
We had a topical index before, but it was not as helpful as it could be, and it didn’t include sermons. Our new topical index is extensive, and over one thousand—and counting—sermons have been topically tagged, along with hundreds of articles, blog posts, and Q&As. This index is easy to find on our new Resources page.
Layers on Pages
Consistent with our mobile-friendly approach, one of the unique features of some pages is our use of “layers” to display information. It may be easier to notice on a mobile device, but you know you’re looking at a layer when you see MINIMIZE [-] on the top-right corner. That tells you what you’re seeing is not a new page, just a layer on top of the page. Our new Search feature is a great example of this.
Better Search Results
Speaking of searching, we’ve changed how search results are displayed to help you find what you’re looking for faster. Whether you’re looking for a sermon, audio series, or book, the results will be clearly marked as to what kind of resource they are.
More on the Way
With this new website, we have a strong platform from which to build even more features we know you’ll find helpful. For example, in the near future you’ll be able to mark and keep track of the sermons you’ve listened to. Also, the website will soon interact with our apps, Grace to You Sermons and The Study Bible.
We’ve worked hard to ensure the website works as it should. But there’s only a handful of us compared to hundreds of thousands of users with all kinds of devices around the world that visit this website. If you experience problems or errors, please let us know at firstname.lastname@example.org.
This website has been nearly two years in the making. On behalf of John MacArthur and all of us here at Grace to You, thank you for supporting this ministry. We strive to be good stewards of the resources you’ve entrusted to us, so that we can continue our mission of “Unleashing God’s Truth, One Verse at a Time.”
