No one likes goodbyes. But by God’s grace, we can sometimes see His providence in the parting of ways. Such is the case next week, as we bid farewell to Gabriel Powell.
For the past five years, Gabe has faithfully served as the head of Grace to You’s Internet ministry. In that time, he has overseen significant advancements in the way we minister to you through the Web—including the ground-up redesign of our website and the creation of The Study Bible app along with other projects still in the works. He has also given oversight to this blog and our various social media outlets. In fact, Gabe’s fingerprints are all over Grace to You’s digital platforms and content, and will be for years to come.
In an unexpected twist of God’s sovereignty, this is actually Gabe’s second departure from Grace to You. During his initial tour with the ministry (from 2007–2011), he oversaw the coding and programming of the last three iterations of this website. He returned to us at a pivotal time to help expand and improve how we reach people like you with the truth of God’s Word.
And although Gabe has served the ministry with excellence, it is no surprise that he is now moving on. While his various talents have been assets to Grace to You, his true giftedness lies in the arenas of pastoral ministry and biblical counseling (Gabe is a graduate of The Master’s Seminary). If you’ve read his articles and comments on the blog, you’ve seen firsthand how thoughtfully and thoroughly he unfolds the truth of God’s Word. Gabe has the heart of a faithful shepherd, and he’s going to be a great blessing to the flock God has called him to serve.
We are going to miss our brother, but we’re happy to see him move into a role that will make better and fuller use of his manifold spiritual gifts. And, as we’ve already made clear to him, we expect him to maintain an active presence in our comment threads so we all can continue to benefit from his spiritual insights.
Please feel free to express your gratitude for Gabe Powell’s faithfulness in the comments below.
